There aren't many photos of Skillet from before his rescue. As a stray, I never expected that he would one day become my responsibility, so I was always more focused on taking care of him than taking pictures. I only realized later how meaningful those moments were, and I wish I had more photos to look back on.

Skillet's Story

Skillet has been coming by our home for food, belly rubs, and a safe place to rest. I don't see him every day, but whenever he visits, I'm always greeted by his familiar, demanding meows.

August 28 — The FloodsPampanga was hit by days of relentless rain from the Habagat, causing severe flooding in our area. The water rose to around five feet in the street and even entered our home.We didn't see Skillet that day. I could only hope that somewhere, he had found shelter and was staying safe.

August 29 — We Found HimWhen the flood finally lowered enough for us to access the first floor, I found Skillet taking shelter inside one of our cabinets. I immediately brought him upstairs to safety.But I soon noticed something was wrong. He was repeatedly trying to urinate but couldn't.I recognized the signs immediately. Three years ago, I lost a beloved cat to the same condition.

Unfortunately, the flooding and weather made it impossible to get Skillet to a veterinarian that day. All I could do was keep him warm, comfortable, and safe while waiting for an opportunity to get him help.

August 30 — Getting Skillet HelpSkillet was still fighting.Despite the continued rain, the floodwaters finally lowered enough for me to travel. I found a veterinary clinic that was open and brought him in for emergency treatment.I used the $100 I had with me to have Skillet catheterized, spending everything I had available to get him through the immediate emergency.

I was worried that I wouldn't be able to afford everything else he needed. Thankfully, my mom stepped in and covered the remaining costs temporarily, giving me the chance to focus on getting Skillet the care he needs and paying her back later.Now, we're asking for your help to give Skillet another chance at life — not as a stray struggling to survive on the streets, but as a beloved cat with a safe home and someone to call his own.He's made it through the floods and fought his way this far. Please help us give him the chance to keep fighting.

Skillet was initially admitted for emergency treatment. He was catheterized and given the medications he needed, but by that point, I had already spent the $100 I had available on his emergency catheterization.I couldn't afford the cost of confinement at the time, so the clinic taught me how to flush his catheter at home so I could continue caring for him myself.At that point, I honestly didn't know what I could do next. My original plan was to find a rescue organization that could take Skillet in, but unfortunately, there were no rescues available in our area that could take responsibility for his care.This is also why Skillet was initially just referred to as "Cat" — I never expected that I would end up becoming responsible for him.

Thankfully, my mom suggested temporarily lending me the money needed for his continued treatment, with the understanding that I could pay her back over time.I agreed, and with her help, I was able to have Skillet confined and receive the care he needs.This fundraiser is to help cover those costs, repay what was spent on Skillet's emergency care, and give him the continued treatment and safe home he deserves.

🐱 Skillet Is Home!Skillet has been discharged from confinement! He's now back home and under my care. ❤️I've been dedicating at least 6 hours a day taking care of him — giving him his medications, petting him, grooming him, and making sure he's comfortable and feels safe.The vet mentioned that his blockage was most likely triggered by stress, possibly from being a stray and everything he went through during the flooding. Because of that, I'm doing my best to keep his environment as calm and safe as possible while he recovers.I'm giving him his medications slowly and carefully, giving him plenty of affection, and spending time playing with him so he can relax and feel at home.It's honestly such a relief to finally have him here with me. I'm really hoping that with some time, care, and a lot of love, Skillet can make a full recovery.
